Presentation of animal groups on Prezi
There are six basic animal groups:
Vertebrates are animals with backbone:
- Mammals. Mammals are warm-blooded vertebrate animals that feed their babies with their milk. Most of them have fur, paws and whiskers. They can be carnivorous (they eat flesh), herbivorous(they eat plants) or omnivorous (they eat both flesh and plants). Mammals are viviparous, they give birth.
Examples: elephants, tigers, leopards, lions, cats, dogs, giraffes, rhinos, hippopotamus, rats, rabbits, etc.
- Birds. Birds are covered by feathers, they have a beak, wings and claws. Birds are oviparous, they lay eggs. For example: parrots, eagles, owls, canary birds, ostriches, chickens, hens and so on.
- Amphibians. Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrate animals. They can live in the water or on land. The young one breathe with gills and later on, when they are adults, with lungs. For example: toads, frogs, salamanders, etc.
- Reptiles. Reptiles are cold-blooded animals that are covered with scales. They are oviparous, they lay egs. They like to stay under the sun to warm themselves up.
- Fish. They live in water. They are cold-blooded animals covered with scales.
